CryoSnow wins Lilienthal Prize 2007

CryoSnow wins Lilienthal Prize 2007

The prize was awarded for the development of an innovative machine for the environmentally friendly and gentle cleaning of materials in aeronautical engineering. The difference between the former airplane special cleaners and this product is that it is a dry and solvent-free process based on CO2.

CryoSnow wins Lilienthal Prize 2007Compared to traditional processes with water and solid blasting agents, chemicals and solvents, CO2 snow blasting offers a cost-effective and industry safe alternative. This technology can be implemented in many areas within the aeronautical, aerospace and transport industries.

The Lilienthal Prize was presented to Felix Elbing (managing director) and Marc Knackstedt (technical manager) on May 8, 2007 on the occasion of the Berlin-Brandenburg Aerospace Day at the Schönefelder Kreuz Aerospace Technology Centre. "The Lilienthal Prize is not only an award for CryoSnow but also an assignment to create jobs in Berlin-Brandenburg and to extend the implementation area of the CO2 snow blasters within the aviation industry", stated Felix Elbing.

The conferment of the Lilienthal Prize, which is under the patronage of Brandenburg`s State Premier Matthias Platzeck und Klaus Wowereit the governing mayor of Berlin, is an integral part of the Aeronautical and Aerospace Day. The prize is awarded for especially innovative and marketable achievements which are exemplary for the industry and sustainability thereof and provide growth opportunities for the region.

Andreas Kaden, president of the Berlin-Brandenburg Aerospace Alliance e.V. and jury chairman of the Lilienthal Prize Foundation congratulated the prize winners: "The entries submitted for the Lilienthal Prize confirm the particular innovative engagement and achievement potential of highly specialized companies and projects in aviation industry which contribute toward the importance of Berlin-Brandenburg's position as an aeronautics and aerospace headquarters."
